Zonta Club of Beaufort recently hosted District 11 Area 2 meeting. Pat Green started the weekend with a Lowcountry Boil to welcome in our sisters from all over. We had Zontians from Greenville SC, Franklin, NC, Columbia, SC, Hilton Head, Savannah, GA and Florida. There was so much knowledge and fellowship shared throughout the weekend, including presentations from Kelly Procida, UNICEF Assistant Director for Global Cause Partnerships who spoke to us about Zonta Internationals efforts in Peru and Madagascar; Michelle Fraser, Victims Advocate from the SC Solicitors Office and Rachel McBride, Founder and Director of The Helianthus Project. Zonta Club of Beaufort enjoyed everyone who participated and give thanks to all for making this Area Meeting such a great opportunity for us to share ideas and support each other as sisters.
“The Big Chill” at the The Big Chill House was big hit. Supporting Friends of Caroline Hospice at their event, Zonta Club of Beaufort members helped welcome in guests to enjoy a beautiful Outdoor Movie Night featuring “The Big Chill” at Tidalholm, the famous Beaufort house that the 1983 movie was originally filmed in.
We had a beautiful ceremony at Release and Remember 2024 with Friends of Caroline. The annual event is an opportunity for people to remember their loved ones who have passed by releasing a butterfly in their memory. Thank you to everyone who showed out to honor their loved ones, and to our Zonta Club of Beaufort members who graciously gave their time to volunteer.
Each year, thousands of Zonta Club members across the globe come together with millions of individuals to commemorate International Women’s Day. This significant occasion also signifies Zonta’s annual Rose Day.
In Beaufort, the Zonta Club celebrated Yellow Rose Day during our monthly membership meeting, March 26th. We are thrilled to be able to honor local women who serve as exemplary role models and contribute significantly to advancing the status of women and girls in our community. This year, Yellow Roses were awarded to Elizabeth Santagati, Robyn Baker, Bobbie Jo Poole, Rachel McBride, Pat Harvey-Palmer, Christie Cummings, and Edna Horn.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your exceptional leadership and dedicated service to our community – your contributions truly make a meaningful difference!
